It has been exactly one year since the publication of the very first issue of the Research Journal on tall buildings last year. There have been four issues already for the last one year. We send our words of sincere appreciation to the two other Co-Editors as well as many contributors of the papers and articles. This March issue concentrates on researches on "Fire Engineering" which many consider weakness of tall buildings. Recently there was a popular movie titled 'Tower' that focuses on a fictional incident of fire in a tall building, and the crowd has gotten a fear over tall building fires over this movie. This special edition on fire engineering will contribute much to designing safe tall buildings. Here we must thank the authors of the papers in this issue. Subjects of environmental, sustainability and energy savings will be edited by Prof. Shinsuke Kato (University of Tokyo) and Prof. William Bahnfleth (Pennsylvania State University) from June and December issues. Prof. Yukio Tamura from Tokyo Polytechnic University will lead the special issue on wind engineering as a guest editor in September. As stated last year, this is a comprehensive journal that includes all related areas of tall buildings, and these are Architectural Planning & Design, Construction Technology, Environment, Energy Saving, MEP, Structural Engineering, Sustainability, Urban Planning & Design, etc. Any high-quality papers are always welcome and fair opportunities will be given to be included in the Journal. Best Regards, Co-chief Editors Prof. Guo-Qiang Li Prof. Sang Dae Kim |
