The goal of this March 2017 edition of IJHRB was to promote advancement in the design industry and research related to the vertical shortening phenomenon in tall buildings. Publications contained in this edition focus on case studies of international tall building designs of different building types, structural materials and systems, and topologies. A focus on technology is provided through discussion related to design and vertical shortening analysis integration, the vertical shortening analysis process, and different software platforms utilized. The state-of-the-art in concrete material models related to long-term creep and shrinkage effects are integrated into the discussion, along with associated construction related issues. The International Journal of High-Rise Buildings (IJHRB) and I are grateful for the contributions from all of the authors on this important topic related to tall buildings. And of course, I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff of the IJHRB and Professor Sangdae Kim for their dedication to promoting and publishing critical tall building design issues that help to advance our industry around the world. |
